A T-shirt and its 1001 lives
American Vintage’s cult creation and the star of summer, the T-shirt takes on new forms, changes colours and becomes ultra-layerable. This style chameleon is the key piece of the season. Never too much or too many. Timeless, simple, iconoclastic. Since the creation of American Vintage in 2005, the T-shirt has become the indispensable ally of the modern silhouette. Versatile in summer and winter alike, it is minimal, unisex or pure – and always essential. In spring/summer 2020, it breaks the rules and can be worn on its own or layered.
Rolled up on the shoulders or arms, garment-dyed, white or coloured.. It is the go-to piece that you slip under a spaghetti-strap dress or unbuttoned shirt. You can play with its thickness, freshness and natural charm. Multiplied, worn one over the other, you can create layered looks to flip through like the pages of a book all day long. The perfect summer story.
The art of « ready-to-dye »
Boosted by a vibrant colorama, American Vintage’s spring/summer 2020 collection turns the spotlight on overdyed denim canvas. Dipped in colour baths after their creation, these cotton pieces in monochrome summer tones structure the entire collection.
We’ve already seen it raw, stonewashed and bleached. But, this season, denim strays off the beaten path in the form of a skirt, dress, short-sleeved shirt or sleeveless jacket in bright colours more intense than ever before. This overdyed denim, the star fabric of the season, is the obvious choice for a silhouette with nonchalant yet edgy elegance. Thinner, suppler and soft to the touch, it makes a statement in Atlantis blue, lychee pink, tender green or camel. Chic, utilitarian or workwear... Style goes casual, revealing contrasting topstitching and saturated hemlines.
